Abstract
Recently transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEM) instruments are increasingly utilized in the treatment for colorectal cancer. They are usually equipped with a fixrectoscope tube which has an opening at one end, and used for surgery on the deep part of the rectum. However, A few drawbacks in visual field, illumination, and size have been reported, and we therefore developed a new short distance transanalaccess surgical instrument, to solve these problems, with two rotating rectoscope tubes which have an opening in the side wall and with an LED lighting system. We evaluated the feasibility of the developed device by measuring temporal changes of LED light intensity and image sharpness.
